Aran sucks

I haven't posted much because not too much has been going on.

We're through Curator pretty easily and are working on Aran. He sucks, actually, it isn't so much him as it is us.

We're working on the strat and such but there are a lot of moving pieces. We'll get it, it just takes some time.

Things I think we need.

1 - everyone to have a firm grasp on what to do and when to do it.

2 - A third dedicated healer

- we have 2 locks so when we get to the elementals they can be banished. The trick is to remember to get the banish off and continue paying attention to all the other crap thats going on.

We'll get it, it just takes some time.

Other notes -

A new graphic is incoming - I don't look like that anymore.

Also I plan on posting a pic of my updated paper doll. Yeah there's a link to my armory, but this is more fun.

Good stuff. Aran is the worst fight in all of Burning Crusade. It's a bit of luck, a bit of skill and lots of practice to get it right. I usually have a minimum 8k health for all raiders, especially healers like soft, weak priests. Make sure to have healthstones and health potions for the post-polymorph KA-POW!

How did I miss your blog?! I've searched high and low for other Shaman blogs.

I'll add you to my sidebar.

We don't have the people for Aran this week, so we're just farming the bosses we have down pat. Might be good rather than bang our heads against the wall.

Aran is much easier than he seems.

Assign teams (rogues, DPS shamans) to break his spells by type (ice / arcane / fire)

Make sure everyone understands when to move (AOE) and when not (flames)... discipline there.

Control the rythm of the fight by stopping DPS so that he drinks and does his AOE before the elementals appear.

This is one of the fights where the DPS classes have to understand that they have to pay attention to a lot of other things than their techniques and aggro list :)

Hey Ash,

Been keeping up with your guys' progress, you arent doing too bad. Here's how we always do aran.

1) Be sure that everyone has high health. Pallys and Priests are a must for this fight with Kings and Fort.
2) Only interrupt the fire and ice, as when you interrupt arcane he begins to run around more, and thus he might be on the side during blizzard, which spells doom for your melee.
3) Try not to stand in the blizzard as much as possible.
4)When Eles pop stop tanking and dps on Aran and take down the elementals.
5) His sheep can be trinketed(Insignia of the Alliance) out of, and his pyroblast is kickable/counterspellable, so be sure to have at least 2 people with the trinket for your dps.
6)DONT MOVE DURING FLAME WREATH :P

Anyway, hope this helped. Good luck

I just found your blog, linked in a posting on BRK's forum. I read through all your back posts, and I love it, as I'm in a guild that's right on the cusp of forming our first Kara team. Really great stuff, I hope you keep posting.

I'm not sure if you're still wrestling with DPS issues or not, but one thing I noticed from the WWS report you posted from Nov 30's Kara run, specifically targeting the Maiden death. I notice that Fixhunt did not fire off any Kill Commands, and his pet didn't use any special attacks such as Claw or Bite. These two issues are very easy to fix and will add a nice chunk of DPS to your party.

Won't solve all of your problem, but every little bit helps. Once KC and pet special attacks are addressed, then you can examine shot rotation for a more optimal use of attack capabilities. Direct him to BRK if he's not already a reader.
